Grace Notes Bell Choir

Formed in 1997, Grace Notes is a 4˝ octave hand bell choir with three octaves of chimes. Led by Lori Baker the choir is composed of eleven ringers and several substitutes. This is small group ministry within the congregation of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Each meeting, practice, concert or participation in worship begins with prayer. Throughout the year, Grace Notes gives concerts at nursing homes and has been invited to participate in worship at other churches in the community. Grace Notes provides music in worship at St. Paul once a month from September thru June. First in the minds and hearts as ringers for Grace Notes is serving God. The choir gives praise to Him with ringing and gives thanks to Him for the opportunity to do so.

Do you enjoy listening to handbells during the morning worship? … then I have some great news for you. The Grace Notes have some special selections that we are working on this year – and we plan to start ringing more with our congregational songs too! You can also look forward to a very special organ/bell anthem that will surely be a special treat for all. We are also planning our second community handbell concert – and hope to host the event here in our own church this year. Date will be confirmed soon – so I’ll keep you posted. I encourage everyone to take a moment to write a note to me, and let me know how you feel about handbells in worship services. Or maybe ways you think we can add even more to the spiritual offerings. You can leave notes for me anytime in the office.

God’s blessings to you all… Lori Baker

Lori is starting up a beginner handbell group for anyone who thinks it might be fun to be a part of the music ministry. This will only be a short term commitment. We will rehearse for only 45 minutes a week.  It is not necessary that you be able to read music – just that you know how to count notes and measures. You will only be ringing one or two notes on the staff – so you will just follow the music until your note is needed. It is fun! It is a great small group experience! No age limitations. We just need you to call and pre-register. Call Angie in the office at 754.6676 or call Lori at 894-5882. We hope lots and lots of you will choose to serve the church in this way – with only a short term commitment. Try it – you may really like it! If you have some prior ringing experience – all the better.

Come one, come all singers! Choir will restart for the year the second Wednesday afternoon/evening after the new year at 5:30 pm.  Rehearsals usually last an hour to an hour-and-a-quarter. They make me stop in time for church! Nels will be there at the keyboard, Carolyn at the baton (actually, I don't use a baton), and all of the sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses, all of whom would love some more company. Give us a try….you might like it!
